EXTREMELY Helpful Apps to Up Your Instagram Story

We all want to tell our story to the world but, how do you make yours stand out? Luckily, there are plenty of video apps to help you with this. These are the ones I use daily.

It’s important to know that some of my video stories are edited in Final cut. I have tried some of the editing apps in the iPad/iPhone but as a Full Time Video Editor, I always find myself Airdropping all of the videos to the computer and editing them there. That is just what cuts time for me! Everyone is different and I'm sure you'll have different ways to do it too. Drop your video editing apps on the comment! I would love to check them out.

Play with all of these apps to find the ones that are right for you. I try to entertain my followers with vintage videos, dynamic texts and music videos so you get a sense of who I am in every story!

Screen Recording

Something I recently learned is to record my phone screen to show my followers things I’m looking at. This tool not only records video of your iPhone's screen, it can also record the audio your playing, you also have the option of doing a voice over. It comes with your iOS 11 update so you don't need to download any app.

You can also use it in the iPad and its completely FREE!

This is how it works:

Go to your Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, then tap next to Screen Recording.

To start recording swipe up your Control Center and press the new round button. You will see a three second count down that will give you enough time to swipe the Control Center down.

To use your Microphone Audio you press record button deeply and tap Microphone Audio.

To stop your recording you can either tap the red bar on the top of your screen or go to Control Center and tap the recording button.

Now you can find your screen recording in the Photos app. I usually use the very easy to use editing tool to crop the beginning and the end.

Hype Type

With Hype Type its really easy to add animated text and music to your videos or photos. I love using this to make announcements like "new post" or to add music to a boring clip. Usually I use the song I’m into that week, that way I entertain my followers and show my personality in every post.

Hype Type is free but you have to get use to the watermark in the corner. To remove this there is one payment of $19.99 a year.

To start with Hype Type, swipe up to pick an existing video or photo from your camera roll or take a new one with the in app camera. Double tap to edit your text.  If you don't know what to write on your image,  Hype Type got you! Tap the quotation mark to automatically get a random quote.

Use the bottom menu to chose a font and a color, you can also change the size of your post.

Use to bottom menu to speed or slow down your video. Pick a song that makes your image stand out! You can leave a long-lasting impression when you give them something awesome that other accounts don’t  have. When its ready, share it on your Instagram Story, Facebook or Snapchat.

8 mm

Get a warm look using all of the filters they offer!

You can add dust, scratches, retro colors, light leaks and frame shakes instantly.

It's really easy to record videos using the effects, what you see in the view finder is what you get. You can also pull existing videos from your library and apply the effects. My favorite is the Two-Color effect. It highlights the teals and the oranges and adds a bit of grain.

You can keep the audio on these clips or click the microphone button to mute your audio and add flicker noise.

I did have some problems with this app when I began playing with it. I wanted to use the videos on my story so they were 9:16 and taken vertical. When I tried to use the 8 mm app, the video got flipped to horizontal so I lost the top and the bottom of my footage. To fix this I downloaded another life saver app called RFV. With this app you can flip your videos 90 degrees and bring them to 8 mm to apply the filter. It sounds like a lot but you'll get the hang of it! It's totally worth it.

I also had to purchase it two times since the one I bought on the iPhone is not the same version sold for the iPad.

Either way I'm really happy with the way it makes my videos look and the more I play with it the easier it gets! Every time I post stories with these filters I get a lot of complements.

This app is the most simple yet useful app I have. It can be really frustrating to have footage and not being able to edit it or post it because of its orientation. Well this app is SO EASY to use!! It's only purpose is to flip the video 90 degrees at a time. It's free and its available for both iPhone and iPad.
