Emotional Winter Wedding at the Stonewall Resort
Swipe right and bring her flowers
Drew and Kristen's relationship began like any traditional fairy tale: boy finds girl on tinder, swipes right, brings flowers to the first date, and immediately sweeps her off her feet. From a delightfully awkward left-handed shake on the first date, to a smooth pick-up line at Kennywood that included "I don't want to die on this roller-coaster as a single man, will you be my girlfriend," Drew easily stole Kristen's heart from the very beginning. Since then, the two have fallen more in love every day and continue to enjoy beginning their life together in Bridgeport with their cat Mocha.
The magic of Christmas
On Christmas Eve, Kristen's favorite night of the year, Drew surprised Kristen (no small feat) by going down on one knee next to the sparkling Christmas tree at Kristen's parents' house in front of her entire family! Just like their relationship, their proposal was the perfect blend of romantic (Christmas, family, tinkling lights... what more could a girl ask for?) and funny (Kristen's dad may or may not have been in the restroom and accidentally missed the entire proposal). 2017 could not have ended on a more perfect note!
The Day of
West Virginia is full of natural wonders and stunning scenery and Stonewall Resort in Roanoke was no exception. Kristen and Drew couldn’t have chosen a better venue for their wedding day. We especially enjoy when the couple is getting ready, getting married, and having the reception in the same place. It gives us the ability to capture extra moments and connect with the couple more.
Despite impending rain, Matt was able to get some drone shots of the Stonewall Resort and the Lightburn's Restaurant. After that, we met with the wedding coordinator, Misti from Little Black Dress, and she brought us to meet with Kristen and Drew. We absolutely loved working with Misti and we highly recommend her.
The morning went really smooth. Drew surprised Kristen with a pop-up card that was filled with pictures of them. It was such a surprise, the whole room couldn’t stop laughing. Kristen got in her dress with the help of her mom and we all headed outside for a first look with Drew. It was the first time we got to see them together and it was clear how much they love each other! It was a magical moment and we are so happy they got that intimate moment before the ceremony began.
The ceremony was about to start and Key to Adam began playing. We are big fans of their work and it was so great to hear them play. For the processional, they played “A Thousand years”, “Dust in the wind” and when Kristen walked down the aisle with her father they played “Cannon in D”.
Since we did some photos after the first look, after the ceremony we headed to the reception at the Lightburn's Restaurant. It was such a fun night!
